Mission-Critical Equipment: Atlantic G100 Compressor in the Arctic

Cinematographer Jonathan Bird and his team are undertaking one of the most ambitious underwater documentary projects ever attempted. Their mission: capture never-before-seen footage of Arctic walruses in their natural habitat. What made this expedition possible wasn't just expertise and determination. It was equipment engineered for the such conditions.

The Atlantic G100, a gasoline-powered portable scuba compressor rated to 330 bar (4,700 psi), was part of the expedition's gear. It took the team seven days of traversing one of Earth's most isolated and unforgiving environments to arrive at their filming location. There they faced conditions that separate mission-critical equipment from everything else: frigid temperatures, rugged terrain, and no margin for error.

Why the Atlantic Line?

The Nardi Atlantic series represents decades of expertise in portable breathing air systems. These compressors aren't designed for convenience or comfort. They're built for divers and operators who work in places where backup equipment doesn't exist and where pressure up to 330 bar (4700 psi) is required.

The three Atlantic models serve different expedition profiles:

Atlantic G100 (Gasoline) The workhorse of remote operations. Self-contained, gasoline-powered, and capable of delivering consistent breathing air in extreme field conditions.

Atlantic D100 (Diesel) For field operations where diesel fuel supply exist and gasoline availability is limited. The D100 delivers the same output and pressure rating as its gasoline counterpart but operates on diesel, offering extended fuel efficiency and range for extended field deployments.

Atlantic P100 (Electric) The single- or three-phase alternative. The P100 suits institutional diving operations, research facilities, and permanent or semi-permanent installations where consistent power infrastructure is in place. It also works great in a workshop or home garage with adequate power.

All three models share the same core engineering: robust breathing air filtration, precise pressure regulation, and the durability that comes from Nardi's 60 years in the compressed gas industry.

It's fascinating to read how the Atlantic G100 dive compressor proved essential for Jonathan Bird's ambitious Arctic expedition, facing such extreme temperatures and isolated terrain. The reliance on equipment engineered for zero margin for error truly highlights its mission-critical nature. international eSIM service
